Our City, Your Vote is a non-partisan initiative led by the Cornwall & Area Chamber of Commerce. In the lead-up to the 2026 Cornwall Municipal Elections, the initiative aims to strengthen civic literacy, increase voter awareness regarding democratic processes and issues, and encourage both traditional and unconventional democratic engagement.

To raise awareness about the importance of civic participation and engagement, specifically relating to the 2026 Cornwall Municipal Elections.

Vision

To foster a municipality where all demographics, especially youth, are engaged and actively contributing to civic and democratic processes.

Who Can Vote

Follow the steps below to verify your eligibility and ensure you have everything needed to vote in the 2026 municipal election.

Basic Requirements

Select all that apply to you
You are a Canadian citizen.
You are at least 18 years old on Election Day.
You are not legally prohibited from voting.
Step 2

Residency Rules

Select at least one
You are a resident in the City of Cornwall.
OR: You are a non-resident owner or tenant of land in the municipality.
OR: You are the spouse of a non-resident owner or tenant of land.

Check off all basic requirements and at least one residency condition to verify your eligibility.

Prepare Your Identification

When you arrive to vote, you must present an approved piece of government-issued identification. Common examples include:

If you are a student living away from home, you are legally permitted to vote in both your home municipality and the municipality where you attend school.
