Cornwall - Two lucky shoppers have each won a $1,000 shopping spree thanks to local merchants. The draw was the final activity for the Home For The Holidays shop local campaign sponsored by the Cornwall & Area Chamber of Commerce and StarTek-Community Matters.

Joyce Kinnear and Sharon Ayres had their coupons drawn from the thousands of entries and each has won a local shopping spree valued at $1,000. In addition, more than 30 other shoppers won $50 gift certificates from participating merchants during the program.

“Home For the Holidays is being judged a success,”  reports Executive Manager, Lezlie Strasser. “The Chamber and its partners are happy with the program and judging from the response from participating merchants and local shoppers, they were pleased as well.”

A new Chamber initiative, the Home For The Holidays program focused on thanking shoppers who shopped at local merchants. When they shopped at participating stores, restaurants and specialty shops, they became eligible to win gift certificates and possibly, one of the two grand prizes.

Each week during the program, coupons were drawn from selected stores and the person whose name appeared won a $50 gift certificate. The program ended on December 23 with 14 more shoppers winning certificates. The final week’s winners were:
