History of the Chamber

A Tradition Spanning Three Centuries

In 1890, a group of prominent businessmen came together in an organization dedicated to the community. It was the Cornwall Board of Trade and its first President was John McIntyre, a prominent dry goods merchant.

For close to 120 years, the Chamber has served Cornwall's business sector and the community at large. Along with its close to 600 members, it is dedicated to the city as a dynamic and progressive organization.

It serves its community in many ways. It is an advocate on issues of concern. It is a leader in matters of economic renewal. It is dedicated, like those from its distant past, to making the community a better place to work and live.

In all that it does, the Chamber has never lost sight of its roots. Well into its 3rd century as the business voice of Cornwall, it combines its 1890's tradition with a clear vision of the City's growth and prosperity.
